(More customer reviews)I have two puppies who stay in 4'x4' pens while I am away from home.They are very rough on the floor and also the pens scrape against the floor when the puppies bump into the sides of the pen.I needed something tough but not hard, waterproof, easy to clean, and easy on their little paws.This mat protects both my floor and my puppies.It is very easy to clean, either sweeping up their copious shedding or wiping up/disinfecting after an accident.It does not slide around on the tile floor.It is lightweight enough that I will be able to take it with me when I visit out-of-state friends, pups in tow, later this summer.It was also very easy to cut to the desired dimensions with regular scissors.On a few occasions moisture (yes, puppy pee) has found its way under the mat; it wipes away easily and did not leave a lingering smell on the underside like other mats I have tried.

One puppy was able to get a hold of an edge and chewed through it very quickly.I have tried specialty kennel mats but they all have interlocking pieces that the puppy is able to pry out and chew, or are too small and I had to overlap several.This mat provided the largest coverage area without a seam; however, as it is I still need two pieces to overlap to get full coverage for the 4' width of the pens plus a few inches on either side.So I still have a seam that is vulnerable for the puppies to get a hold of, rip up, and chew.I am forced to cover the seam with a large pan that is weighted down by their crates.

I was unable to find an adhesive that held the two pieces together sufficiently (sufficiently = puppies were not able to rip it up and apart).I wish there was a wider option (5 or 6 feet wide) so that I would not have any seams; placement of the pan to cover the seam seriously inhibits how I can arrange the mats and the crates and the pens.Eventually I would like to combine the two pens but I will have to find a better way to cover the seam, or otherwise get rid of the seam, before I can do this.

Overall, however, I am very pleased with the product and it has lasted longer than anything else I have tried, and if a wider version was made available at a reasonable price I would certainly purchase it to solve my seam problem.This mat is so multi-purpose that it would not be hard to find some other place in the house where my current 4' wide pieces would be useful. (under the cat litter boxes, for instance?)
