(More customer reviews)Typical design - a screw mechanism pushing a pin, the chain held in slots. The only way these tools differ is in the quality of the materials, fit-up (e.g., slop in the screw mechanism), comfort of the handle, etc.The Park is better than most, as it's made of good steel and the screw handle (typical Park tool vinyl dip) won't slip. The grip handle is significantly better than similar tools, however, as it is nice and wide.Compare other tools with a simple steel rod handle.
If you have a really stiff link, rather than pushing the tool to the limit - possibly bending or breaking the tool's pin - give the link a good shot of penetrating oil and let it sit for an hour first. Most of the frustration with chain tools comes from situations like this or from using a light-duty, emergency tool more suitable for a bike bag tool kit.
